Singing River Healthcare Academy will welcome 279 high school students on Friday, September 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for its Career and Technical Education (CTE) event. The hands-on event gives students the opportunity to earn clinical hours toward their Allied Health program requirements while exploring careers in healthcare.
“This showcase is more than an event. It’s an opportunity for students to experience the real-world impact of healthcare careers,” said Gayle Brown, Workforce Development Manager. “We’re proud to support their journey and help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
Students from Pascagoula, Gautier, Jackson County Technology Center, St. Martin, Biloxi, Long Beach, Moss Point, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport high schools will attend the event.
Throughout the day, students will rotate through interactive learning stations focused on a variety of healthcare specialties and skills, including:
- Pharmacy
- Phlebotomy/Lab
- Alex Pro Simulation
- Anatomage digital cadaver activity
- PPE Relay
- Glow Germs Handwashing
- Respiratory Care
- Lab Experience
- Code Blue/CPR
- Surgery skills and tools
The CTE event gives students the opportunity to practice technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and learn directly from Singing River providers and instructors. The event is part of Singing River Healthcare Academy’s ongoing efforts to introduce students to healthcare careers and help develop the region’s future healthcare workforce.
