Singing River Healthcare Academy will welcome more than 250 high school students on Friday, February 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Clinical Showcase. This hands-on experience allows students to earn clinical hours toward their Allied Health program requirements, a key benefit that supports their credentialing and career readiness, while exploring healthcare career pathways.
“We want students to see themselves in these roles and truly experience what a career in healthcare can look like,” said Jessica Lewis, Chief Human Resources Officer. “Through hands-on learning and direct interaction with our clinical teams, they gain practical skills, professional insight, and a deeper understanding of the impact they can make in patients’ lives.”
Students will participate from high schools ranging from Long Beach to Pascagoula and will rotate through interactive learning stations highlighting specialties, such as:
- Pharmacy
- Phlebotomy
- Surgery
- Blood Pressure
- Orthopedics
- Code Blue Simulation
- Alex Pro Simulation
- Emergency Department
The CTE event provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in healthcare professions, practice technical skills, and interact with experienced Singing River providers and instructors. This immersive experience is part of the academy’s ongoing efforts to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals and strengthen the local workforce.
