“What lead me to seek an apprenticeship with the Healthcare Academy is that I can work towards my goal to work in the healthcare field and help people without having to lose income. My experience through the Academy was amazing. At first I was nervous, but now I am more confident than ever as a phlebotomist.

“I saw my mom in healthcare when I was younger, and just like her, I love helping people. I started out in med surge, after a year I did psych, and I fell in love with mental health. My passion has always been science, so I wanted to be in the lab. Thankfully, I can now fulfill that dream. My boss/manager on the psych unit mentioned the Healthcare Academy, and I didn’t apply at first because I didn’t want to leave mental health. However, I had to prepare myself for my career.
